- Update to Anticoagulant Our Practice Advisory (OPA)
As of August 20, 2026, the existing OPA for anticoagulants will be updated to fix an issue found where the OPA fired inappropriately for regional nerve blocks that did not involve the spine. Anesthesia prescribers will now see a warning for anticoagulants in the following scenarios:
- Warning will fire if a procedure note has been entered or epidural catheter has been documented (click the camera icon for a screenshot).
- Warning will fire (and display) in the Anesthesia px note if anticoagulant was given prior to the start of an anesthesia procedure.
The warning will discontinue after the appropriate amount of time has passed (12 hours).
