- Interventional Cardiologists No Longer Automatically Added to Patient Care Teams
As of August 20, 2026, the performing Interventional Cardiologist will no longer be automatically added to a patient's Care Team when the patient undergoes an Electrophysiology (EP) or Cardiac Catheterization procedure. These prescribers are often not part of the patient's ongoing care team, and automatic assignment has resulted in communication challenges, including patients sending MyChart messages directly to these prescribers.
This change was approved by all Cardiac Catheterization and EP Lab Directors in Edmonton and Calgary, as well as the Cardiology Clinical Systems Integration (CSI) group.
