- ED/UCC Adult Sepsis OPA Improvements
Following changes implemented in November 2025, feedback was received that the prescriber-facing ED/UCC Adult Sepsis OPA was firing inappropriately and too often. Review showed that the alerts were being chronically dismissed rather than actioned, causing them to continue to fire. To address this issue, as of July 7, 2026, the Adult Sepsis OPA will have the following improvements implemented:
- Changed to a passive, non-interruptive alert (viewable in ED prescriber workspaces - Triage, Workup, Dispo).
- Will no longer have required action, allowing the user to exit the chart without a hard stop.
- Updated verbiage in banner and text display for clarity and consistency.
- Decreased documentation options to two items: "Sepsis not suspected" or "Patient is palliative/comfort care".
- Improved acknowledge reasons with descriptions added to buttons.
