- Changes to Home Oxygen Assessment and Requisition Orders
As of February 10, 2026, there are a number of changes to the Home Oxygen assessment and requisition orders, summarized below. There are no changes to inpatient workflows.
- New "Home Oxygen Assessment" order - For use when the assessment is to take place in a Respiratory Therapy clinic, this order replaces the need for an Ambulatory Referral to Respiratory Therapy (click the camera icon for a screenshot).
- "Blood Gas Arterial, schedulable" order renamed to "Blood Gas, Arterial at Pulmonary Function Lab".
- Updated "Home Oxygen Requisition" after-visit order - For use with any patient needing a Home Oxygen prescription to provide to home oxygen vendors, this order now has added reference links to Alberta Aids to Daily Living and Non-Insured Health Benefits oxygen manuals, and the multi-select "Oxygen Requirements" field will cascade into additional relevant fields.
- Note: Prescribers must sign the order in Connect Care for the vendor to accept the electronic signature in place of the previously required wet signature. The requisition will auto-print upon signing.
- "Oxygen Therapy – Equipment" order now retired, as the standard Home Oxygen prescription is captured by the updated Home Oxygen Requisition.
