- Additional Improvements to Ambulatory Referrals
Reporting indicates that incomplete referrals received in Connect Care have led to ~30% denial rates, which can result in a delay for the patient requiring access to specialty care. As previously posted, the Connect Care Referrals Taskforce and provincial specialty working groups have been working over the last several months to make improvements to referrals, to ensure referral orders include required information for effective and efficient triaging.
Continuing the optimization work that started this summer, further changes will be made December 10, 2024 (between 12:00 and 13:00), specifically to Ambulatory Referral Orders for Hepatology, Urology, Pediatric Neurology, and Pediatric Orthopaedics.

- Updated referral orders for these specialties will include custom specialty reference links, optimized speed buttons, and cascading questions specific to specialty criteria.
- Users may be required to re-personalize preference lists and Order Sets/SmartSets containing previous versions of these ambulatory referral orders, to ensure the updated version is used.
